Shared hosting is where one server hosts more than one website. This is the ideal solution for start up businesses as it’s easy to set up and very cost effective. Some people want full access to make configuration changes so use a Virtual private server (VPS) but their websites are still on shared hosting.
Dedicated hosting is when a website has its own dedicated server. It’s a big step up cost wise and only required for busy, larger websites (like ours). This option requires more technical expertise.
Once your website outgrows shared hosting an alternative option is cloud hosting. This uses the resources of a number of servers clustered together. It’s less expensive than a dedicated hosting and requires less technical expertise. Cloud hosting also has shared and dedicated options.
